A queue at the counter.
The phone still gets answered.
The pharmacist is advising a patient, the team is serving a queue, and the phone keeps ringing with the same questions: are you open, do you have it, can I order it. rednea answers every call, gives the practical answers you approve, takes orders for your team to confirm, and passes every medication question to a pharmacist.
What is rednea for pharmacies?
rednea is an AI phone assistant for pharmacies. It answers every call 24/7, gives opening and duty-pharmacy information, takes product orders as messages for the team to confirm, books services, and passes medication questions to a pharmacist. It never gives medication advice.
Why the pharmacy phone rings out
Why customers cannot get through to their pharmacy
The counter always comes first
The person in front of the counter, often unwell, comes before the phone. During the busy hours the phone rings on, and the caller tries another pharmacy or gives up.
Counter first, phone second
Most calls are the same practical questions
Opening hours, the duty pharmacy tonight, whether an order has arrived, how to collect for a relative. Qualified staff answer them all day, between customers.
Routine calls take qualified time
Medication questions need a pharmacist, not a hurried answer
A question about a dose or an interaction deserves the pharmacist’s full attention. Answered in a hurry between two customers, it gets less than it should.
Clinical questions answered in a rush
What changes
How rednea works in your pharmacy
Every call answered, the counter keeps moving
rednea answers in parallel, so the team keeps serving the customers in front of them. Callers get an answer at once.
Practical answers, never medication advice
Opening hours, the duty pharmacy, services you offer, how orders and collections work: rednea answers what you approve. Doses, interactions and symptoms always go to a pharmacist.
Orders and services, ready for your team
rednea takes product orders as structured messages for your team to check and confirm, and books services you offer, such as a blood-pressure check, in your calendar.
Medication questions reach a pharmacist
A question about a medicine becomes a transfer to the pharmacist or a priority call-back. When a caller thinks it is an emergency, rednea tells them to call 999 or 112 now.

How we set rednea up for your pharmacy
Hours, services & greeting
We record your opening hours, where callers can find the duty pharmacy, your services and your greeting.
Orders & collections
We set how orders are taken (as a message for the team to confirm) and the collection rules you approve, for example collecting for a relative.
Pharmacist routing & emergency wording
Which questions go to a pharmacist, when to transfer and when to book a call-back, and the exact emergency wording.
Test call & go-live
You call your own number and try the scenarios that matter: hours, order, dose question, emergency. Then you set call divert on your existing line. No number change.
Typical call scenarios
How rednea handles calls for a pharmacy
An order for a product
No stock promise: a structured order for the team, and a confirmed call-back for the customer.
A question about a dose
No dose, no reassurance, no assessment: the pharmacist takes the question, with the emergency wording your pharmacy approved.
Which pharmacy is open tonight?
The answer you approved, given the same way every time, so the team does not repeat it twenty times a day.
Collecting for a relative
The practical procedure your pharmacy approved, and the pharmacist available for everything else.
GDPR Article 9 and transparent AI
Built for the care a pharmacy owes its customers
Health data handled under GDPR Article 9
What a customer says about a medicine or a condition can be special-category data under Article 9 of the GDPR. rednea processes it under a data processing agreement, with encryption in transit and at rest.
Storage in Switzerland
Persistent data is stored in Switzerland, a country with an EU adequacy decision. Transcripts are deleted on the schedule you set.
Recording is your switch
Call recording is on by default and can be switched off in the dashboard, taking effect on the next call. Transcripts and summaries are separate and keep working.
Clear limits, transparent AI
rednea gives no medication advice and confirms no stock. Your greeting can say from the first second that a digital assistant is answering. You write the greeting, and we suggest a wording that does this — the transparency Article 50 of the EU AI Act asks for.

Frequently asked
What pharmacies ask before using rednea
Does rednea answer questions about medicines?
No. Doses, interactions, side effects, symptoms and whether a product needs a prescription are always for a pharmacist. rednea transfers the call or books a priority call-back, and it gives no answer of its own.
Can it tell customers whether a product is in stock?
No. rednea does not read your stock system and does not promise stock. It takes the order with the product, name and phone number, and your team confirms availability.
Can it tell callers about the duty pharmacy?
Yes, with the information you give it: your own hours, the nights you are on duty if you share that, and where callers can look up the duty pharmacy for their area.
What happens in an emergency?
If a caller thinks it is an emergency, rednea tells them to call 999 or 112 now. It never assesses the situation itself. Your team gets the call summary by email right after the call.
Can it book services like blood-pressure checks?
Yes. rednea books the services you offer into Google Calendar or Microsoft 365, or into other software via iCal or API on request.
What if a customer wants to speak to the pharmacist?
Your greeting can say so from the first second: you write it, and we suggest a wording that says a digital assistant is answering. A customer who wants the pharmacist is transferred if they are free, or gets a call-back with the question already noted.
Can it take repeat prescription requests?
As a message, yes. rednea takes the customer’s name, date of birth, the medicine as they say it and their GP surgery, and your team processes the request. rednea never approves, changes or advises on a prescription.
We have several branches. Does that work?
Yes. Each branch gets its own greeting, opening hours and services. rednea knows which number the customer called and answers for that branch, so a small group works under one account.
How much does it cost, and how long does setup take?
From £90 per month with 300 minutes of call time; if you need more, you add minutes. No setup fee and no minimum term. Setup takes about 30 minutes: we configure hours, orders and pharmacist routing, and you go live with call divert on your existing number.
